I think it's about 14 or 15 miles. Most of it on the mountain roads, so it takes about a half hour to get to the nearest grocery store. Any time we need to go to the valley, we figure it's going to be "about" 3 hours. We budget an an hour going, and hour there, and another hour coming home. That seems to work, as even though the trip is only a half hour, something always happens.
You may need this more than I do. Since you live up in the hills, and it's a 3 hour excursion to go grocery shopping. Gilligan went on a 3 hour tour. Look where that got him. You pay a little for shipping, but still a great price. I just have no way to use 6 gallons of motor oil. I'm not going to use 6 quarts on 1 annual oil change, then try to save it. Besides, that box is really big and heavy to pick up, and try to accurately pour 6 quarts into my engine.
We do maybe 2 oil changes per year, and we use 8 quarts at a go, but that would still be a year and a half supply. Where we live, oil disposal is a problem, so I eliminate the whole issue and let someone else do it. That said, we're only spending about $30 at a time, so the savings becomes somewhat nebulous. I don't mind spending $60/year and not having to deal with the storage or disposal.
Yah. We have been flirting with the sun, but we're still getting the liquid stuff from the sky. Now at almost 1/3" for just today. It might take a major downpour, but we might almost make 6" of rain for May. Only at 5.63" so far, so it would have to be a big one.

Yah. Here too. We ended up with just shy of 4/10" rain yesterday. That brings our total for the month of May to 5.75". The total rain for this year was maybe slightly above average, but the total for May was quite unusual, if not record breaking. We're still in pea soup this morning, and it's not clear when it will lift.
Dry here today, but it took until noon for the fog to lift. It came roaring back in around sunset, but at least it was warm and dry for a while. Just checked outside a little bit ago, and the fog rolled back out again, so maybe we really are in for our traditional summer dryness?
