I suspect I am going to have to replace my HPOP, but just to make sure I was wondering if anyone around me would be willing to scan my 2004 Excursion 6.0 for some beer? My truck is running like crap on the high end, no hard start or won’t crank issues. I have an Edge CTS2 monitor, but just the basic monitoring cable set- can see EGT’s, EOT’s, Boost etc..
I have code P2290 showing up. I am going to check ICP sensor first and then pull the oil filter to listen for air or bubbles, then IPR. I have had nothing but issues with this damn thing since I bought it a few years ago. I had a “reputable” shop in the area do the head stuffs and ton of other work to bulletproof that engine and then that motor shortly after the work was done crapped the bed and blew head gaskets and the cracked the block.
Now fast forward to about a 1,000 miles after a newish “used” motor with low miles was installed and now this issue is popping up.
I feel cursed and don’t trust the shop that did the work obviously.
Hoping someone might be able to help? I am no mechanic by any means but am learning by fire. This has been a huge learning experience and would appreciate any input or help.
New to the site so if this is not in the right place to post my apologies
I don't have a problem with used auto parts. Obviously, some items should be reused. If there is a good fender, hood, bumper, et cetera. But I would hesitate at anything mechanical or a moving part with wear. Other people will argue that it still works and you're saving money. But I will never buy used tires, a used water pump, a used fan belt, used gears, et cetera. My dad put 3 used radiators into his old 5.0. Each of them blew up, just like the original radiator. Then I bought a new radiator. That was cheaper than 3 used radiators from junk yards, and it's still in the car today.

P-2290 is Injector control pressure too low for command time frame,
if it’s leaking oil out the connection side then yes time for a New ICP Sensor, May not be a bad Idea to check IPR aswell or at least get some numbers as too what it’s trying to open at, here are the Ford Specs for both, remember take these values In Park , no Radio , Hvac, or any power related ideas on , just Engine .
koeo- key on Engine off, low idle no throttle just idling, high at 2500 RPM, ,Engine Warm not cold.
ICP-Koeo -0 low Idle-625.5 high at 2500 rpm- 1400 +
ICP- Koeo -14.84% Low-24% High-40.60
i read a Scan Gauge , but some have dash boss , And other Apple monitors that are Ford Diesel specific .
