So the glass instal week is here. I grabbed the rear slider and have decided I want a new one. These windows rock loosely in the channels and it just looks bad. UNFORTUNATELY, it looks as if i will have to buy a tinted window, as clear ones are no longer on the market. I looked all weekend for a clear rear slider, NOS or even aftermarket, no luck. Does anyone have any suggestions? Also, i have seen an option for a green tinted glass, was this used on the 73-79 trucks and if so, does anyone have a pic of what that might look like. My project is a 77 f-250 custom, deep bright blue. I know that 73-96 sliders will work, and that i have to buy the appropriate gasket for the window year i buy, I just need a place to buy one! Thanks guys and gals. stripped of everything being pulled on
Interchangeable: 1973/96 F100/350, 1988/97 F(Super Duty), 1997 F250 H/D & F350. The glass is thinner beginning in 1980, the weatherstrip is also different 1973/79 vs 1980/97.
The POS plastic window latch was replaced in 1992 with a metal latch.
i decided to go the expensive route. I found a co. that makes aftermarket rear sliders OEM style with green tint, i exchanged my front windshield for one with green tint, I bought new door glass and vent glass with green tint. This was the only way i could get all my glass to match, and be in new condition. total cost: $400. not too bad IMO

Good call.

I still have to do the labor of getting it all in, LOL and when you factor in that I bought all new door seals, window seals, and track liners actual cost is 600+ my own labor.
Good luck with the wing window gasket... I spent like two hours getting mine in the frame and it still leaks air....
Funny you should mention that, that’s the only part of this That actually has me concerned. I’m currently looking for a rubber u-channel that will work. What did you use?
Would you mind sharing contact info of the company you found that makes aftermarket rear sliders OEM style?
definitely! the company that makes them is CR Laurence, but they only sell to businesses, not private individuals. The only place i could find that carried the window is DK Hardware in FL. they make it in smoke grey for $215 and OE green for $260. It comes pre-set in its own special gasket. ill post pics as soon as i get it, should be tuesday.
CR Laurence windows... A couple have been good, the last one that went in to a 1977 f250 was 4 years ago or so, a rear slider, black tint, the outer panes of glass kept moving toward the center few times a year, the glass shop didn't want to deal with it, this year I finally siliconed them in place. Might just be a one-off bad apple, their other windows for same application have been good.
