I have an 88 f-250 with the 460 v8. It died spontaneously now it just cranks but won't start. I had 0psi fuel pressure but I changed the tank selector valve and it has 35-40 psi. It has spark. I just replaced the distributor but haven't gotten it timed yet because it won't start but no amount of adjusting while the engine is cranking will make it fire. No engine codes.
Did you get the distributor stabbed in roughly the way the old distributor came out? ie Was the rotor pointing roughly the same direction? If you did, you can actually time the engine just by cranking it with the starter using a timing light.
However if you didn't pay attention to the way the old distributor was when you removed it, you may be 180 degrees out doing this and the timing light will show you are timed correctly.

Reason: forgot to add last 4 words to first paragraph.
If you know you have it stabbed in roughly the right direction and you don't have a timing light, you can line up the timing mark on the front of the engine to 10 degrees Before Top Dead Center and line the rotor up to the number one point on the distributor cap. You may still be a cog or so off and have to re stab the distributor to get everything to line up. This also applies when using a timing light.
When I installed the distributor it would only allow me to drop it in at 2 spots. I would assume at 0 and 180. I tried to fine tune it better but it wouldnt allow me to drop the distributor completely into the block.
