Windshield rubber gasket help
I bought a good used windshield to put into my 66 mercury. It is in great shape and was a good price. My question is this can I use a rubber gasket that is made for the chrome trim without the chrome trim? This gasket is new and was thrown in with the windshield. I do not have the trim nor want the trim. Just wondering if I should try to use or sell the gasket and buy the correct one? Thank you

As you probably know there is a slot cut for the outside trim in the gasket that used the trim. If you were to use it without the trim, I am not certain that the rubber with be as tight as intended without the trim filling that space. For all the effort you are going thru to change the glass, I would say get the right one. It is easy to set here and type and tell someone to spend money though.

I'd get another too. You're not losing anything since it was thrown in and you can sell it for something but if you spent the time putting it in and it leaked or just looked crappy you wouldn't be too happy I bet for the $45 (chinese) to $75 you didn't spend…
