Long time reader first time posting. I’ve got an 03 f250 ccsb with 7.3/4r100 combo. Manual transfer case. It has a ford reman trans with miles unknown. Ok here goes. Trans shifts great and all. Shirts through all 4 gears with 100% lock up according to my snap on scanner. Now if I am wide open on the go pedal it will not shift into 4th unless I let out of it. Like it quits building boost and all and will just stay around 55. Pulled pan and no metal at all. Removed rear valve body and check for broken accumulator spring. None found. It did have a ts chip but has since been removed.
I've seen this issue several times. Each time it was the engine starving for fuel. If not the fuel filter it could be a partially plugged fuel pickup in the tank.
Oddly enough about month or so ago I removed the bed and replaced the broken foot on the sending unit. I didn’t clean the mixing chamber thing or anything. All I did was replace the foot.

Does anybody have a guide on what all to clean on the sending unit. I don’t have the money at the moment to do the harpoon mod with an external filter.
Guys have reported good results with an inline filter available from NAPA for a few dollars. It's not really a filter, more like a mesh screen, I can't recall what size though. It is what I will use when I finally do mine.
You should also blow out your fuel line backwards into the tank to make sure that none of those pieces from the broken pickup foot are lingering at the hard tube elbow on top of the tank (where the fuel line connects to the hard tube coming out of the tank. I've been through this twice on two different 7.3's where that elbow caught stuff from the tank.
For a small inline strainer, you don't want to use anything smaller (tighter, or finer) than about 120 mesh (125 microns, or .005"), nor do you want to use anything any coarser than about 60 mesh (250 microns, or .01").
Ok. Pulled bed tonight and cleaned mixing screens and replaced the pickup foot again due to the fact the plug in the side fell out. I’m assuming that’s why I’d run out of fuel at 1/8 of tank. Blew lines out. Put it all back together and still same deal. It won’t shift to 4th under hard acceleration. If I let out of it she shifts fine.
Did you change your fuel filter again like Mark suggested? When you say it won’t shift into fourth are you seeing that on a code reader/transmission reader or is that going by the seat of your pants?
I have not changed the filter but will tonight. I can see it on my scanner and feel it. I’ve read about the exhaust sensor may needing coeaned. Is that something y’all have done as well
Exhaust back sensor tube and sensor are up front on the engine and the tube comes off of the passenger's side exhaust manifold. Many of us have cleaned and/or replaced both. I have, my tub was completely broken in half but I did not notice any difference afterwards, others report increases in fuel mileage.
