On flat sections of southern Wyoming highway, my transmission was sticking at 219° F pulling my bumper pull toy hauler that likely weighed in at 8,000 lbs. In this case, it was all about frontal area, wind direction and MPH. It was a straight-on headwind. The front of my toy hauler isn't small and I was driving at 65 to 70 MPH.
Once I changed travel direction, I wasn't fighting a headwind and the transmission temperature dropped down down far enough that the numerical value was no longer shown.
Going up Togwotee Pass from the west side, My engine oil hit 246° F and the transmission hit 235° F. Other than the very loud engine fan, the truck didn't seem to mind.

Excellent video T. I have no issue or concern with the higher temps the tranny runs at.
The question remains however.
Is the 2015 (or before) 6R140 the same as the current 2017+ 6R140 and if not what has changed?
Is it all programming and fluid changes? Is the secondary cooling system different? Is the tranny thermostat circuit different?
The information in the vid for both the engine and tranny fan programing is really informative. Thanks for posting it.
