what ? Wait a second, what parts are you talking about deleting that is going to improve MPG ?
and if you don’t mind explain to me how deleting them decreases the fuel burn rate or extracts more power from the fuel that is being burnt. I am confused and appreciate the clarification
Don't look at me. I'm just parroting what people have observed out in the real world. It probably helps that they have to "tune" the PCM at the same time to get the engine to run right without the emissions systems.
I don’t expect the truck would ever pull like the 6.7, the technology is just not there. But I’d love for it to pull like the 2000 7.3 extended cab short be I had. All that was done to that was a superchips tuner and magnaflow exhaust and that thing pulled like a beast. I think the biggest thing this 7.3 is missing is probably tuning. Looks like fromreading I wanna put a hydra in it if I’m going to chip it?
To to end the debate on the 6.7 payment versus putting money into the 7.3, it’s not an issue. I don’t owe squat on my 6.7 maybe 5k still and the payments next to nothing because of all the cash I put down. I just like my old 7.3 and know it should pull better and was wondering what everyone thought to do to get it to do it.

Yes... Also, ensure you are driving the ZF6 properly because it is a beast of a transmission when used appropriately.

This... If you were closer I would hook your trailer to my truck (stock 250,000 AD injectors) and show you how your truck should and could run.
1. Get more air into the system with an intake, be it S&B, AIS, 6637, AFE, etc, and re-evaluate. 2. Get a Hydra tuner with your choice of tunes from PHP, 1023, Jelibuilt, SDK, etc, and re-evaluate. 3. Install a T4/SXE kit and sell your take off parts to recoup the money and re-evaluate. 4. Install 200/30, 180/80 or 160/80 injectors and re-evaluate. 5. Install PMF or OUO traction bars and re-evaluate. 6. Install air bags of your choice and re-evaluate. 7. Install a quality clutch like a South Bend HD or whatever you find that will suit your needs and re-evaluate.
Just an FYI 1023 Diesel is having a sale I think till the end of today on their hydras with the custom tunes $340. I run his tunes and love them. Lots of power and shift points are great. I have an auto which obviously is different tuning wise but engine wise mine runs better runs cool. I have a wicked wheel in a van turbo and I never see temps over 1150 towing 10,000lbs. I know there’s a recent thread on here of someone having some problems with them but all I’ve had is a great experience with them and they are great guys. Not trying to tell you what to do but just my experience.
My .02, you'll need bigger injectors and an SXE turbo (along with supporting mods) to do what the 6.7 does. Ran the 38r for a couple years and it's nowhere near an SXE. I didn't like it as much as a modded stock turbo to be honest and in the end, turbo surge likely killed mine as it started losing oil out the exhaust. I run an auto which has it's own pro's and cons. The upside is you have a manual trans so you have a lot of control. I just landed in Utah towing heavy (lots of stuff) with our Fiver from North Carolina taking a round about path of about 3,000 miles down to Carlsbad and back up north. Still have a few more stops before final destination. Towing in 1023 Street Shredder tune is what I'm using towing or not. I don't bother with tow tunes anymore and have ample power and good EGT control. Blew an airbag so am hurting in the load capacity department though. I'll post up a thread of my trip and observations.
I'm a 38r fan because I like having the EBPV and the ability to use it as an exhaust brake. I wish KC would offer a .91 AR exhaust housing for it or one of his turbos. Hope someone drops that in the suggestion box.
A 6 position chip is cheaper than the Hydra, but the hydra holds 15 different tunes, includes lots of free tunes, and lets you change the tunes without sending it away. The latest SuperChips costs more than either of those. I've heard good and bad about the different superchips programmers and it seems to mostly be a luck thing, if I jives with your tuck it'll work well. I've used my buddy's old SC 1705 on my Ex and on his '00 F-250 and it works well. The hydra has specific programming based on your ECM code, the SC is completely generic for all 7.3. I assume the more 'dedicated' tunes should be better than the generic, but as I said, the SC worked for me.

He was. He was already deleted when I got him. I aquired the parts from another member here but hadn't put them in yet. They went with Rich when he got the truck.

Gotcha...missed that paragraph in Tug's acquired parts with Frinky
