I’ve got a 2012 F-150 5.0 4x4 with about 118xxx miles that has had some issues with the front end recently. I took it in to get aligned and learned the front spring on the driver side has broken the bottom coil (apparently a common problem) and the ball join on the upper control arm of the passenger side is shot. I put a leveling kit on it last summer and hadn’t had much issue until lately.
My question is is what is recommended for replacement quick struts? I did some research yesterday and there seem to be a million options. Also, should I replace the rear set at this time too, or is that less of an issue? I am planning on just the front set but a friend suggested doing all four now. Thanks for any help!
you can order over the internet, or just go to local Auto Zone or similar. They have a good selection of shocks / struts. Buy the assembly , not just the spring. You don't have to spend a fortune, there are many that are OEM equivalent. Rears may or may not need to be done now, depending on how you drive.. Bounce on the rear bumper and see if you get a controlled rebound or if it continues to bounce around............. as mentioned, 120K miles might be getting close to needing rears also.
