YAT, The best thing you can do is to measure the back space of the wheel you want to use and order the spacer adapter that will set the wheel properly.
I have 1.5 spacer adapters on the rear of my truck which is working out with no problems. The CV clip that I have did not need any and I have no tire- fender clearance issues.
I know for a fact, the hub diameter is too large for car rims. 25 yrs ago, I remachined mine for 5" bolt circle because I couldn't get it down to 4 1/2" because of the large bearings in the hubs.
Using spacers would work, as you need to get the backspacing way out for a late model rim anyway.
