Door pin switch help

Door pin switch help
2003 F250 SD. 5.4 gasser.
When I open the drivers door radio and such stays on. Passenger side works fine. I have located the 2 wire switch on the latch and unplugged it.
1. Should I be able to jump that switch with a wire and have it work?
2.Do I replace that plug or latch?
I tapped on the plug a few times and it actually worked once but that was it.
Just not sure where to go from here.
