I was pulling into work this morning and all of a sudden a message appears on dash and says service advancetrac. Was wondering what this means and how to fix the issue? and is it ok to drive with light on?
My wife’s 2013 Taurus did that early on. I never did anything with it. Message disappeared and never came back. Never had any issues. If you don’t notice anything odd, I wouldn’t worry about it. Can always check for codes, of course.
The single advancetrac light is likely from a wheel speed sensor for ABS and advancetrac functions, and can be read with the right code reader. It’s safe to drive, but while that light is active, features like ABS, traction control, and advancetrac are automatically disabled.
Stock truck or deleted? If stock it is as simple as displacement says, if deleted and your exhaust sensor connectors weren’t properly handled there could be a sensor network issue.
Truck is stock for right now. It only does it when breaking hard while turning right. Almost sounds like tire is rubbing, but has stock size tires.
This warning would come up on my 2012 F150 when I steered fully to one side. It ended up being the steering positioning sensor in the rack and pinion. The downside is had to replace the complete rack as the sensors are built in and not serviceable.
I believe its in the steering column on the superdutys which would be somewhat cheaper to fix.
Just a thought.. Cheers

That sound similar to a tire rubbing is likely the ABS stepping in to act on the faulty readings it’s receiving for a wheel speed sensor. Buy/borrow an OBD-II reader capable of reading ABS and it will tell you which sensor. Sensors are a fairly easy job to replace as long as you’re capable of getting the caliper and rotor off if it’s a sensor on the front.
Same thing happened with mine today, I'm stopping it off at dealership Monday since it's under warranty, 8200 miles. Service manager grinned and shook his head, said it's very common issue and could be any number of things to cause it. Hardest part is locating which sensor isn't communicating with network.
