Im sure most of you have heard what rush said about donovan mcnabb being overrated. I think its true and rush resigned from his job at espn today because of it. I dont think he should have lost his job , or anything he said was racist how do you guys feel?
I'm not really a Rush follower and don't really agree with what he had said but, there was absolutely nothing racist about. Just the media stirring thing up which I guess is the point that he was trying to make.
While maybe not blatant racism, he in effect said that the only reason Donovan McNabb was a "superstar" is because he's black, otherwise he'd he ignored.
No different than me saying the only reason you have a job is because you're white, otherwise you wouldn't have it.
Has the USA not learned a thing from Jimmy (the Greek) Snyder's remark, "During the slave period, the slave owner would breed his big black with his big woman so that he would have a big black kid–that's where it all started."?
And he said it as a praise!
There has to be some kind of respect for humankind - even if you don't understand it.
Aww, I was deceived. The only reason I clicked on this post was because I thought we were talking about Geddy Lee and company. Oh well, should have known better.

I think he's a decent Q-B but, certainly no "superstar". Only the media makes him out to be one. This is Rush's point. If you see racism in that, what does that say about you. ( not YOU specifically, but anyone that sees it that way).
By the way, if I were to apply for my job today..I wouldn't get it....BECAUSE I'm white. (affirmative action and all)
Anybody that watches football certainly doesn't need Rush Limbaugh to tell them how good an athlete is. The viewing public can decide that for themselves. As for the NFL filling quarterback quotas, I see that as highly unlikely. Money and the quest for a super bowl are the only driving forces a team owner has. All players are drafted to better a teams chances to win, there's no free ride. No matter what color you are, if you don't perform, you're out. Rush was hired for his "controversial" views. Now he's out because of them. You live by the sword.....
I don't know why I even entered this one. Are we talking about McNabb's football credentials, the media, or Rush's comment?
Judge McNabb on his stats and merits, they're impressive, certainly in the top 5 or 6 QBs in last couple years (barring his injury). The media loves a winner, and the Eagles and McNabb were winning. What does that have to do with his colour?
Brett Favre's numbers have stunk the last couple years and he's still a media darling. Is it because he's white?
What about Steve McNair? A BLACK QB. His numbers have been great but his team isn't winning, does he get much coverage? NO.
The point is, what does colour have to do with it, and why would Rush be so foolish as to bring up race.
He should resign if for no other reason than for being so dumb.

PS - I could care less about what you think of Rush's politics, and quite frankly, we don't hear much of him up here, so for all you guys out there that are thinking "typical liberal" think again.
After Matt Millen(sp) of the Detroit Lions got fined for not interviewing black head coaching candidates, even though he asked several and they declined to interview for the job, it makes a lot of sense that race is a taboo topic in the NFL
If the word white was subbed for black nothing would have been said. Here in New Orleans, the saints got rid of a better white QB and kept Brooks who is black because New Orleans is predomintly black and that would mean more ticket sales. Now watch next week when we play that QB @ Carolina.I am so sick with race being an excuse for everything, oh thats right mcnabb got his feelings hurt, awwwah, wah, wah.Ever notice how in commercials if they show a criminal that they are always white? If they showed a black portrayed as a criminal-look out.Makes me sick.
It is all political for him, even football. There are politics in it, as everything, but analysts on Sunday are supposed to key on the match ups and the teams, let the local regions, media, owners deal with the politics.
I'm glad he is gone. Now I can watch and not worry about another shoe leather breakfast by Rush.

I think Rush ever the shock jock just momentarily forgot where he was.
On the radio it's just him and the ditto heads, who's to complain?
Maybe Rush just doesn't like Irish guys.
Seriously,
I suspect the building up by the press of McNabb as well as Rush's tearing him down are both symptoms of the same systemic discomfort surrounding race that persists in this country.
I should say I don't follow football so I didn't know who McNabb was before this controversy. Cool name though.
