That piece can be purchased separately after the fact. You really should have the one with the flow-through plate.

Okay I was on another thread and we were discussing this. What is your opinion on having the flow thru plate? I'm still learning this stuff. Thanks.

The flow through plate is just a spacer and can be added anytime after the fact or during the initial installation. The EGR has both the secondary and primary cooling systems running through it. That plate is for the primary cooling system to flow through as if it were still flowing through the EGR. It is said that the pass through lowers coolant temps 5 to 10 degrees.

The brass fitting to the left of the red plate is for the secondary cooling system and allows the coolant to flow without entering the, then nonexistent, EGR. The shop here says they recommend No Limit plates, and they offer a pass through. They also said it didn't matter. For the little extra, it might be worth it to have the coolant flowing the way it did before the EGR removal.

Great explanation. I was hoping UGA33 will chime in as well.

He nailed it. A stock 2017 I maintain for my brother runs 196* under normal operation. My truck with EGR delete runs 190-192 under same conditions.

No way I’d just dead head that coolant passage.
