92 460 FUEL PROBLEM

Odd issue and I'm a little confused. Truck isn't getting fuel to the fuel rail. I've changed the filter, and while the filter was off cycled the key to ensure fuel spray and pump function. No matter how many times I cycle the key I can't get fuel to the fuel rail. I'm considering changing the FPR (pressure regulator) to see if that does anything but want a little insight first because changing the FPR is such a pain. If anyone has any ideas let me know please want this thing running this week so I'll be checking back as I figure this out!

If you have NO flow, the regulator won't help. If you hold the pressure test port open with the key on (you'll have to bypass the "control circuit") you'll see fuel. spray. You jumper the Fuel pump circuit, @ the OBD1 test plug, to ground. I can't put my hands on the diagram to tell you which pin to ground, my diagram is out in my shed in the glove box. If no one jumps in with the connection, I'll head out when I do evening cattle chores and fetch it. This will cause the fuel pump to operate directly, letting you know the pump(s) are OK. Pretty straight fwd, but regulator has nothing to do with flow. It stops flow allowing it build pressure. If the reg holds a vacuum it's OK (or should be OK)

Okay cool so my understanding here is with KOE off I will jump pins 2 and 6 and then open the pressure relief valve on the fuel rail, and I should get fuel spray out of there? What are my options if it does or does not work if you have insight?

Just a guess here from a similiar truck owner. From what I understand, each pump has a check valve that prevents fuel back-flow/holds pressure so the other operating pump can send its pressurized fuel forward to the fuel rail. Just guessing here, but if one of those failed maybe pressurized fuel from (either) pump going wrong direction into tank? I haven't really researched this system so may not be possible.

BLK that's a good thought, it's missing it's rear tank as of now, I have one to put in along with another pump. But I have a buddy who runs a truck without the side tank and just the rear tank with no issues. and VJ my fuel filter is directional yes and it is the right way haha. I have to cut the box off tomorrow (trucks rusty) so I'm going to install the other fuel tank and pump and see if I have any success using that pump and tank since I know for sure it is operational.

After jumping 2 to 6 you also need to turn the key to the run position.
If that does not work then try grounding pin #6 to a good ground and turn the key to the run position.
