Your stock rear traction bar has a rubber bumper on it, they need replacing every decade or so.

Shock choice

Out of curiosity

Why do you prefer the KYB shock and not Bilsteins?

I will probably try the SumoSprings just because I am curious. I know they are a tad more expensive, but the science seems reasonable and the reviews are decent.

For a stock height excursion the KYB has a similar valve profile as the Bilstein but 1/2 the price and equal quality.

KYB doesn’t offer the correct length for a lifted excursion, at least in the Monomax. I don’t like the valving profile of the KYB gas adjust.

The science behind the sumo is fine, it’s the same science as any foam, rubber , polyurethane bumpstop. They are basically a secondary spring and as such should be 1.5 x the main spring packs spring rate.

The main issue I have with using it as part of the main pack and relying on them for load capacity instead of as a stop is now you need to find a shock valved for the additional spring rate, which is all an exercise in futility because there will be no such off the shelf shock but more so the excursion front spring rate is correct as it is stock.
