Hey there - so I had my tailgate apart today to add the trailer hook up light and as part of that I had the short harness that goes from the 12-pin plug in the tailgate to the camera itself apart. It went back together fine and it plugged back together just fine. The weird thing is that now the backup camera guidelines that are supposed to move as you turn the wheel aren't there anymore and the zoom function doesn't work. Is that a function of one of those single wires going to the camera? Is it possible one of them isn't seating right or has failed? Just trying to troubleshoot before I deal with...the dealer. I'll be able to try a new harness next week to see if that is in fact the issue, but I am stumped. The camera itself works fine, the backup sensors work fine, and I see the three colored guidelines on the screen. But he white lines that turn as I turn the steering wheel are missing. Anyone have any ideas?
And now I'm second guessing myself - did I even have that feature before? I did, right? These trucks have those fancy moving guidelines, right? I honestly can't remember! Please help my sanity...

2017 F350 XLT Premium.
Thanks!

my tailgate cam, shows the lines only in the full image rear view... in the partial (left/center/right), it doesn't..
this is an 18, with 360 view..

Okay so mine doesn't have the 360 cam, just the tailgate camera. Sounds like I should have those moving guide lines.
Yes the hook up light! OEM version is an LED next to the tailgate handle that illuminates with the other courtesy lights. My truck didn't have it, but the 12-pin connector had the wires in it, so I added two LED bolt lights and it works! Credit to user Gumby on here who started a thread with his idea to do it. I have ordered the harness outlined in yet another thread on here that plugs right into the 12-pin and has the oem plug for the light. Weird that I'm actually hoping I damaged a pin and that the new harness will fix it, because then at least I would know and wouldn't have to go to the dealer!!

cool, i noticed the light, (truck only since late october) but didn't think of it as a trailer assistance thing.. doah!... thanks for the education!
The outside lines dont move eg red/yellow/green. There should be a black dotted line in the center that DOES move as steering wheel turns.
*edit never noticed till just now there is white/grey lines that also move from the red/yellow/green.
Okay so this confirms for me that I'm missing something here. Now to figure out why? There are 5 wires going to the backup camera. Wonder if one of them is relevant to this problem? I did check the off-road display in the cluster menu to confirm that the steering input is working, and it is. When I turn the wheel, the off-road display shows the degree the wheel is turned.
Try looking in your apim settings and make sure you have enhanced park aid selected. It’s in there somewhere I just don’t remeber where off the top of my head.

Done. I went through it already as a troubleshooting step. Or do you mean with FORScan connected?
Just a thought, do you have anything hooked up to the trailer wiring? When something is plugged into the trailer wiring, I believe the guidelines aren't shown. I haven't ever actually towed with my 2017 F250 but have a tommy lift on it. I installed an extra pair of taillights on the bottom of the tommy lift and wired them into a trailer plug and plugged them in. My truck now always thinks a trailer is attached and I haven't had guidelines since plugging them in.
Its a setting in the radio... 'parking aid' or something like that
The 'wires' going to the back are purely video and power. The 'lines' are generated by one of the modules, i.e. APIM/IPC, something along that line. There is a setting to turn them on or off. The lines have nothing to do with the wires going to the back.

Nope nothing plugged in, for my extra lights I have a Magnum MFG Harness that runs in line with the taillight harness. So all is well there. But good idea!

Okay so that being said, I wonder if I should do a hard reset on my Sync3 APIM. The setting for advanced guides or whatever it's called is turned on, and it shows the location of obstacles on the screen via the backup sensors. Just seems odd that the lines would disappear after futzing with that harness.

Other guy had a really good point, I suppose. Never considered that one. Try cleaning the connectors (both ends) really well? (I just realized you're a mass-hole, corrosion is a huge issue up there) Aside from that a good hard reset never hurt anything. See if your offroad menu is showing your steering angle (which would translate to your rear view lines).

Yeah good call - I'm going to blast out the connectors and re-grease them. I'll also do that infamous connector up under the spare tire area. Who knows. I did check the off-road menu and it does register the steering angle, so input sensors are working. Between trying a new harness, cleaning the connectors, di-electric, and a hard reset I think I'll cover all my bases. I really don't want to deal with warranty work, I hate leaving my truck there. My upcoming oil change is my free oil change so maybe I'll mention it to them while it's there, let them take a little look if it's not fixed by then.
