Alright folks, here's the final answer to this thread...it was MY FAULT! Something must have happened when I had the connector apart to add the two pins. I got a new harness (the one with ALL the bells & whistles & plugs) and installed it. One plug for the camera, one for the "hook-up lights" and then two other mystery plugs. Made a mating plug for the light connector, plugged the backup camera in, and bingo - I have the stupid grey lines that move with my steering wheel again. I suppose that's what I get for trying to re-pin that stupid molex connector. Anyway - thanks for all the input, but it was ultimately caused by me!

I have the same issue with my truck. I had the tailgate off today and the grey lines did not come back up after plugged back in. Did you accidentally cut a wire? Any advise would be appreciated. Wondering if maybe I knicked a wire.
Was anyone able to figure out which wire was making the reverse guidelines disappear?
My reverse camera and everything work fine but sometimes my reverse guidelines will appear and sometimes they won’t. It has to be a bad connection somewhere I just don’t know where the sensors or wires are. It would make sense that the sensor would be related to a steering wheel position but I’ve been wrong before…
