Fuel pump problems

Hi, this is my first time here, and I need your help, i have an 2000 excursion non-diesel, non-4x4, federal emissions, recently i replace my fuel pump because the fuel gauge is always full, what happen next, after take out the fuel pump I tested with a multimeter and the sender unit is working, so I connect the fuel pump assembly again without the fuel tank, put the swich on, sender unit is on empty position, then the fuel gauge read empty, until now it’s fine, but with the switch in on position without turn off, when i move the sender to full, the fuel gauge NOT move, but if i turn off the switch, and i put the sender unit on empty position, then turn the switch on, the fuel gauge read empty again, son i dont know what happened that the fuel gauge not read real time, if somebody can help me i will appreciate.

That was hard to read

if i fill my ex while running or with key on, the gauge will slowly return to full after driving for some time (15min+) . Is this what you are asking?

Hi, thanks for your answer but not really help me an i apreciate because, i test that and im waiting for the gauge but nothing happen. I will figure out.
