How long does the truck sit between starts or running when this happens?
If you only use the truck once a week to run the trash to the dump fuel can evaporate in the carb so you will need to crank the motor to get fuel to the carb.
If say over night are you pushing the throttle to the floor 1 or 2 times and hold it down just little before starting?
You need to do this to set the choke and to "prime it" before starting unlike a EFI car or truck. Younger drivers don't get this as they have only driven EFI motors and no need to "prime it" before starting.
When cold before starting pull the air filter off and hit the throttle does the choke close? If not could be why hard to start.
