Ive been having trouble with my carburetor. I live in Minnesota and it gets pretty cold. When its between 10 to below 0 the truck wont start. I rebuilt the carburetor and that didnt do the trick, tried to time my ignition and it still has the same problem. it turns over fine when its cold the engine just doesnt want to catch. the only thing that seems to do anything is to take off my air filter and put a screw driver in my butterfly flap and then sometimes it starts. does anyone have any suggestions on how to get my truck to start?
is your choke operating correctly? can you see the carb spray when you give it a few taps with the gas pedal, or in any way can you make 100% sure it is getting fuel. One thing that helped me when i was in iowa is a block heater, the electric type, its better for the engine by warming up the block all thru the night oil wont be as thick when you start it. Really made for easier starting although in a way unrelated to your carb, but might help
Hi Guys. Im new here and have a problem. I bought an 85 ford f150 4x4 not running. It has the 5.0 with the efi. I changed out the fuel pump in the tank and then found it was not getting any fire to the pump. Im an old feller and never worked on these newer rigs. Can you tell me where to start and how? Thanks a million.
mine fired up at -35 deg c with 4 pumps and not plugged in.using new eddlebrock carb.truck was not happy though.i agree on the block heater thing to.it's easier on the old grils.plus i would check your choke adjustment to.all my vehicles chokes get adjusted every fall.good luck
Thanks this thing has the electronic fuel injection. EFI

You need to start a new thread with your problem. The title of this thread is "Carter Carb". He was answering the original poster's problem. I know computers can be confusing sometimes. I saw another thread you started about your truck, and it was in a diesel forum.
