Bds track bar drop mount

Bds says to torque the bar to 405 pounds,while I see ready lift says to torque to 250 pounds,which is right?cause that’s a big difference.

Well this is a easy one. Call BDS and ask them it is their product, or Call Ready Lift and ask them. I use the BDS product which is what my installers prefers to use. There is most likely a reason for this---not on this truck but on a previous one (2500 Ram) had the bolts loosed a bit and it creaked/groaned. 26k on the 18 F250 and no issues so far it is still tight.

You are smart to question this and want to understand the rationale behind the install specifications involved.

Anyway to find the ford factory bracket torque specs? That would be a good starting point

Well I contacted both companies.ready lift said after extensive testing that 250 was plenty with there bracke,but if it made me feel better I could go to 405.bds kept referring me to my closest dealer,which said “we go to 405 cause that’s what the factory is”.so there you go,looks like you should just use your better judgement

BDS Bracket is Solid steel and the Ready lift is a Cast bracket.Maybe they don't trust 405Lbs on the ears where the the bolt goes through. Hope not

That’s what I was worried about on my bds bracket, my installer brought out a 5 foot torque wrench and went to 405 and I could just hear those ears breaking,but they didn’t.
