Im the guy with the clunk... I was wondering if I need to replace the trac bar b/c the bushings might be bad and also the stock one is not tough enough for a 6in. lift. I called the local fab shop and he said he couldnt make one b/c of geometry issues. So he recommended that i buy one from skyjacker which would come out to an additional 480 bucks cause I would need different brackets as well. Does anybody still have their stock trac bar with a 6in. lift??? I have a superlift can I use skyjacker parts also??? This lift project is driving me crazy... although the truck looks good... Please help!!!
Yes, you can use your stock track bar with a 6" lift. But it's not a bad idea to use an aftermarket adjustable bar.
Why would you need different brackets for an adjustablee bar?
You can mix and match parts with no problem, I have SL , Fabtech and sky jacker parts.
Remind me again, you checked out the track bar bracket? those bolts need to have some tourqe on them, I replaced all the hardware on mine and used some big air to get them tight.
I think JetJock even welded his .
I believe with the Skyjacker adj. trac bar you also have to use a bracket on the lower mount if I remember correctly (could be wrong). Probably trying to sell the upper bracket as well..........although I don' think it would be needed if you already have a drop trac bar bracket with your 6" lift.
I know earlier trucks had a much thicker bar, but I dontr remember what year they switched. I remember some one here hitting a good size hole, and bending the track bar.
But I wouldn't think the bushings would be bad. possible I guess.
Does it seem like the passenger side of your truck is lower than the drivers side?
ok the local fab shop said the brackets are used for repositioning the bar and reinforcement however he said that if I wanted to just go with the bar and try it out I could so now I'm really confused...

Were they both the Skyjacker brackets??
FWIW, if you have a clunk I'd retorque everything to spec, inspect the bushings in the sway bar links and make sure the sway bar links are installed properly first.
I believe the smaller trac bar was used in some of the '02 models............and I have seen a few of them bent.
I would think that if your bar was to short, or they sent you the wrong bracket, the bar would literally pull down the right side of the truck.
If it drives normal, Im thinking its the bracket lifting from the frame, and then "poping" back or your sway bar links are messed up.
Does it only make the clunk when turning? Usually left turns?
