flywheel question

Recently picked up a 1972 f250 4x4. The truck isnt close enough to the house to look for myself. My question is, does the flywheel on a 360fe with manual np435 tranny have the replacable ring on it? The engine in the truck is bad so its coming out. Hopefully next time Im at the truck I can get that done. Have another engine that hopefully can get running. Right now I am just trying to find out what all I have.

Flywheel

The ring gear is replaceable. You can get one at NAPA.

To remove the ring requires a torch. Heat the ring until it expands enough to remove it. If the ring has warn the teeth slightly on the starter side you may be able to flip it over and reinstall it.

Hi,

As others have said.... Yes the ring can be replaced individually but,...... I found it such a PITA,.... I just replaced the flywheel which comes with a new ring installed.

I was looking at parts on rock auto and it showed 2 different teeth counts for the ring(188 and 184). I think I will wait until I pull the engine out before ordering anything. Thanks for the help.

Thanks again, Rockauto didnt differentiate between FT/FE, they just listed the two teeth counts. All good.
