I was just going through all the Sync 3 apps available and saw Sygic navigation app listed so thought I'd give it a look.
First, it's free to download and you get a 14 day trial, but they don't tell how much it's going to cost to keep it. I don't like that, very much.
But my real reason for this thread is to find out if anybody else is using it, and what values did you use for your truck in the set up?
Any experiences to share?
Thanks.
I'm using Waze. I alternate sometimes between Waze, Ford Nav and Maps on Apple to see which I like. the part I like about Waze is the crowd sourcing information about accidents, traffic, police presence, changes to speed limit that users enter real time. I hate the trips that the Nav plans, and even Maps sometimes, the routes they choose are ineficient, and sometimes round about ways of getting there.
The Google Play reviews are not encouraging. The positive reviews are very short. The negative reviews are much longer. It sounds like the app isn't taking into account truck/trailer configuration.
I don't care for using Waze, though I do upon occasion. A niggling problem is that I can't see the outside temperature when Waze is running. The larger problem is that if I receive a phone call or have to access my HOS logbook, Waze shuts down. This can be a bit inconvenient. At least the Ford Nav continues to run in the background and give turn directions (or at least dings). A couple days ago I wanted to use Waze but kept getting a cute little "Uh-Oh, Something's Wrong" dialog box.
Sygic is supposed to be carplay compatible with offline maps I discovered Sygic comes in several flavors and the negative reviews in the apple store seem to be centered around buying the wrong version. How one tells the correct version is a mystery to me at this point.. I've already deleted the truck version, but the auto version is looking not too bad. They're having a sale right now - a lifetime license for North America is $9.99; North America + Traffic is $13.99. Then there's add ons such as Real View Navigation for $3.99, Dashcam for $3.99 and something called Cockpit for $3.99. I'll have to investigate to see what those are.
I'll see how well it integrates with my truck when I get home this evening.
