What do you carry?
The things that do NOT leave my truck are 2 blankets, and one rain suit. I have a load lock from a semi-trailer cut down to fit in my box, and a couple racheting tie downs. Work gloves, rope, washer fluid, oil and brake fluid are in a bag behind my seat.
but then again I live and work in the mountains
When I travel: Camper (self contained with water food, clothes, tools), 5 ton jack, air compressor (small).

Here's a pic of my modular bed setup... again, this will probably changes soon. More pics in my gallery!

Can't tell you how many times I've had to fix something at a friend's house very impromptu... they're always surprised when I start grabbing gear and have everything I need for most common tasks. One of my buddies once said that if he's ever stranded in the middle of nowhere, he hopes it's with me. With all the stuff I carry, I could build us a small house in no time...
And before anyone starts to think I'm a nut for carrying this much, I have a good reason/excuse. I manage properties for investors, and have a weekend place I go to once in a while. I used to hate goint to the vaca house or stopping at one of the rentals, finding something needs to be done, but not being able to do it since I needed tools. Now, 99% of the common tasks I do can be accomplished without coming back later. Just hit a hardware store for materials, grab the tools from my truck, and get it done.
P.S. -- I'm thinking of keeping the plumbing torch & MAP gas with me now... best way of starting a bonfire/BBQ I've seen yet. No fluid required, even burns wet wood!
