How do I remove the door panel on my 99.5 F250 SD PSD?
My power door locks will lock, but not unlock...The remote and the buttons on the doors won't unlock the doors (both doors) I think I may need to replace the lock actuator(s). I've never done this before.. Anyone know how to do this??
Pop off the light/reflector lens and the lock/window switch panel. There are 2 screws behind them. Also, pop off the black trim piece behind the mirror mount. After removing everything, pull the bottom out (bottom only), and just lift the panel UP. Don't pull out too hard, there are plastic "fingers" that will break easy.
I'm stumped to know why would both door locks act the same way at the same time?
The service guy at the dealer says they have shorted out! I don't believe that.
the lock actuators are terrible in Ford vehicles....they go out frequently. evidentally the new ones are better quality and are easy to install. I have heard that the dealerships sell them anywhere from $30- $50 each. easy to change out and takes care of the problems.

The dealer quoted me $71.00 for each actuator.. The total with installation came to $495.00.. I don't think so...I'll do it myself thank you very much!
Is there someplace on the web to get the actuators at a reasonable price??
Have they been improved since 1999??

yeah..from what I hear they are easy to change..I need to change out one of mine, but haven't yet. there are several people on here that have done it out in the parking lot at work. said it took about 30 minutes. do a search on door locks and/or actuators and you will get a ton of info. NO WAY would I pay the dealer $495 for that!
Thanks Fisher... I have found out that the door lock actuators are sticking.. What puzzles me is.. Why both at the same time?? What would make them stick?? Dirt??
It seems to me that the drivers side door gets used way more than the passenger side.. Why would both door lock actuators behave the same way?
I'm wondering if they have been improved since 1999 the year of my truck.. Would anyone have any insight on this?
