I only track the big items. Tracking the little things would be a good way for me to need a mental health provider...

I also never plan to make my money back. Enjoying the build and driving of the vehicle is value.

Installing a newer transmission really helps an older vehicle become more fun to drive in my opinion. So I say go for it! It's only money; you can always make more!

What's your plan for your stereo?

I've got a '69 F-100 as well. It came with the doors cut out for 6" speakers so I just intended to use these existing holes. It turns out there is a sub-panel just behind the interior door panel that has probably less than an inch of clearance. I had to use spacers to space out the speakers from the door and I'm not happy with it.

I actually went with an overhead liner made of ABS that has places for four - 4" speakers. It actually came with speakers, but they were not worth even trying. Here is a link to a post about it, with some pictures.

Yeah, let's go ahead and add the TREMEC TKO 500 trans to my "tinkering" list. Ordered today. Ships from a location only about 3 hours away. Should be here tomorrow, or Wed.

I just did the DJM lowering kit this week. The beams up front are great! The shackles for the rear are good too. But the hardware they sent with the shackles for the rear is junk. We threw it in the trash and went to the store and bought some better grade bolts, nuts, and washers. Engine and trans are out right now and frot is sitting a good two to three inches higher than the back. I'm hoping it's near level after the re-install. DJM suggested not installing new coil springs when I installed the lowering kit.

My truck already had a front disc brake conversion from the last owner. Works well.

I pulled the seat, carpet, etc from the cab a few weeks ago and installed the sound deadener, insulation, and new carpet. I also installed the sound deadener on the roof in strips before I installed the new headliner. I need to pull the door panels and put some strips on the inside of each door.

I used the EVA Sound Deadener and Heat Shield kits and the Sound Control Mat from LMC. See links below:

Sweet! Welcome to the TKO bumpside club.

Is your rig a long bed? I have some tips to save ya $$ on a driveshaft and otherwise FYIs on other things.

No, mine is a short bed.
But, please I'd love to hear your tips and advice since you have already been through this same swap.
I was warned yesterday to be sure to get a good quality driveshaft.

Is it okay to mention on here where I bought my transmission, or is it prohibited because of who sponsors this board?

The tip is that if your rig is a long bed, the coupling shaft (the front part) of a two-piece driveshaft from a long bed with an AT is the correct dimension to accommodate a TKO.
