I know I am going to have fun with mine when I finally get all the parts I need and go to assemble my engine. Going to be fun taking my built AFR heads apart to swap checker springs on cylinder #1 valves to check for piston to valve clearance as well as to check for proper push rod length.

But right now my thing is dealing with the cam I got picked out. keep getting told the cam is too big its going to be lazy down low and have not enough vacuum and all that. Finally starting to bother me and have me second guessing myself even though this is the only roller cam by Crane under the truckmax label and its listed with a 1,400 - 5,400 rpm power band with a 2,400 - 3,000 cruise rpm and a 6,000 rpm valve float.
Most aftermarket heads are setup with screw in studs and guide plates. Yours are not? If they are, you now have a fully adjustable valvetrain. You set the locking nut that is holding the rocker to the proper height to achieve the proper valve lash. No need to worry about rocker alignment, the guide plates do that. If you are running guide plates, you do need hardened pushrods.

Oh yes they come withs crew in studs and a guide plate. I will be upgrading for $40 from the 3/8" studs to the 7/16" studs since this is a roller cam that supposedly has more aggressive ramps.

The rocker alignment I would be concerned about is with the 1.6:1 scorpion roller rockers and not riding on the valve tip correctly so I want to use my adjustable pushrod to ensure I order the proper length of pushrods for this engine.

AFR recommends stock or .100 over stock length but there is no .100 over stock length pushrod for a 6.2" roller 302 pushrod.

The thing I am more concerned about is the camshaft though. There are two different valve springs listed as recommended for the cam but yet the cam card I found online only lists one of those springs and its not the one I gave to AFR to find a match out of their springs. The other thing is im starting to second guess myself on the cam itself as I got way more people telling me the cam I wont like it as it will have no vacuum due to the 58* valve overlap even though its a 216*/224* duration @ 0.050" and 112* lsa and 107 intake centerline. Im also hearing about how its going to be sluggish in city driving as it will be sluggish below 1,500 rpm and all that.

Its gotten me so second guessing myself I emailed summit last night a complete list of parts I have or will get and ask them what they think about this cam functioning for my intended use.
