Who made my engine?
Newby here, probably asking newby questions. 
New to diesels, and have just bought my first - 2000 7.3L F250 SD.
I've been told that there were maybe two manufacturers of the 7.3.
Who are they, and how do I tell who made mine?

Were the manufactures Ford, Navistar or International by chance?
Is your passenger side valve cover clean? If so, there may still be a sticker there that looks something like this.

I believe this is the sticker that was refereed to earlier, it’s the only one on the passenger side that has anything useful on it
