Evap can, delete or move?

I've been checking the internet and this forum and surprisingly haven't seen anything for 99-04's but I'm trying to figure what I should do with my evap can. I want to add a second battery for my plow and other accessories but the evap can is mounted right where the second battery would go. Since my can only has the vent from the tank hooked up to it and nothing else can I just take out the can, shorten the hose so it terminates under the truck and add a vent cap? Or do you recommend moving the canister somewhere like under the truck? We have no emissions here and since there is nothing else hooked to it, I doubt it would throw any codes or cause it to run funny. Am I wrong? It's an 03 with the 5.4. Amy insight would be appreciated. Thanks
