I have 99 v10 with a 4r100 trans and noticed that my transfer case has a little chain slop in it not a lot just a little and was wondering if there is something that I can do or an additive that can add to help make it last a bit more or give it some extra lubrication so it doesn't wear as bad. I was thinking something on the lines of lucas transmission fix or a different type of atf or something that helps it last a while longer. I have 238k on it and I think it could stand a little bit of help. Any good ideas???
I realize that there's no fluid that can tighten my chain I was talking about giving it better lubrication so that the chain that's in my transfer case will last longer. But thanks for your input
Well is there something out there better than the ford xl12. Which is just Mercon relabeled. I'm assuming because ford have to give us something to use in the transfer. And can't use Mercon v. That's what I've heard anyway somethow it's not compatable or it gets to vapor quickly or some other stuff like that
If you want better lubrication use a high quality full synthetic oil. Drain it, see what the old oil looks like, fill it with some dino (cheap oil) run it up to temp shift it through all ranges, dump that oil and put the synthetic in. Imo and my opinion only.
I like that idea my question is. Is there clutches in t case or just gears?? I was planning on using mobile 1 transfer case full synthetic but don't know what was in there last so I'll flush it then use good oil. If there is clutches in the t case what are they for?
