I am wondering if anyone knows the factory tire load index for a 1978 F150 Ranger long bed?
Is a 114T good enough?
That sounds like a speed rating... 114T should be plenty. Below is an explanation of these ratings. Lots of other info on the Tire Rack site.
In general an F150 would need a "4 ply rating" minimum. Pick a tire recommended for light trucks with at least a 4 ply rating in reasonable size and you should be fine from a "rating" standpoint. A 6 ply rating would give a some more reserve load capacity at the expense of ride. 8 ply rating would be harsh on a 150.
Thank u much for the info.
I ended up going with the Toyo Open Country AT2 P265/70R16, 111
Saw a lot of good reviews on this one. Should work well for my use.
