Keep in mind that if you match the front windows to the rear (its 15% or 20% depending on who you ask), they will actually appear lighter than the rear due to the light coming in from the windshield. So you will have to tint the windshield to get an even look when viewed from the sides of the truck
Hi,
For those that have gotten their front windows tinted to match the rear (assuming 20% factory tint on rear) , did most of you match front tint% to rear, in other words, did you tint front windows slightly darker than “legal” of 32%?
Any issues with law enforcement? Thanks
Kind of a difficult question to answer because every State is different and every State enforces the window tint law differently.
With that being said, the safe bet would be to use the darkest but legal front window tint for your State.
18% perfectly matched my rear windows. No issues in the states I travel.. so far.
The only State that matters is the one that your vehicle is registered in.
Other states have no say so if their tint laws are different than your State tint laws.
Front Doors - 20%
Rear Doors - 70% (this was to get the ceramic on without making it much darker than factory)
Rear Window - 70% (same as rear doors)
Sunroof - 50%
Windshield - 50%
My last truck I bought with 20-25% on the windshield and it was absolutely terrible at night. Always wanted to take it off, but never did. I was nervous about putting anything on the front again but have a friend with 50% and you can't really tell much of a difference at night but it helps cut a little glare during the day. Overall, happy with how it turned out. I'm past the stage of wanting limo tint all over.

If that is true...why did my friend get pulled over for too many forward facing lights in Michigan when his truck wasn't plated in that state? I'm pretty sure you have to abide by the laws of the state that you are in...one reason why I won't drive through IL.

False. Certain states are what they call pass-through states, Virginia being one of them. It means that if you drive through here you have to follow our laws. It's really unfair for people who are on vacation, but also makes sense so people don't just register their car somewhere else so they can break the law

Did he get a ticket though? I was pulled over in MI last winter for window tint being too dark and once he saw my Indiana plate, he said there wasn’t anything he could do.
I had my 2017 F150 done and it wasn’t very noticeable, but traded for a 2019 F250 on Saturday and I can’t believe the difference with and without the windshield being tinted. I’ll be getting the new rig done this weekend.
Omaha, NE $300 for 15% all around, 5% on Sunroof(s) and front windshield, not sure percent, but light. I got a few price quotes and they are all around the same, within $20.
