I acquired my 75 f250 highboy without any parking brake installed. I really need a parking brake, so I bought the cables,1 front and the 2 rear. After hooking them up and adjusting the brake drums and the cables, the pedal is rock hard and when fully depressed but, barely slows the tires down.
Is there something else I am missing like a torque multiplying lever? Can anyone with a highboy take a picture of their factory brake cable setup? Any help would be much appreciated? Thanks Everyone in advance.

Lubricate all of the cables and all linkage pivot points. The cables should move freely without binding, Also lube the backing plates where the brake shoes contact the plate.
Where did you find cables for a 75 highboy? Did you buy the ones for use without heavy duty brakes? Are you sure you got the proper ones? Do they enter the backing plate at a 45 degree angle or 90?
