E brake

Is there anything that can be done to improve the holding ability of the stock e-brake? Mine won't hold the truck on steeper grades. Looking at the size of the drum it sure sucks.

I just asked this question a week ago. Apparently the park brake mechanism is self adjusting. If your e-brake cables are loose running along the frame rail, you may need to replace park brake mechanism (the part that the e-brake pedal connects to by your left foot).
I suspect that this is similar to the less than perfect design used on the Mustang clutch cable quadrant.
I was thinking about shortening the cable somehow, but then i went to town the other day and when I got there the right rear was smoking cause the brake was dragging. This truck has new drums and shoes because it looked like the previous owner had driven with the e-brake on. After i put the clues together I now believe that the brakes were dragging due to the park brake mechanism being bad. I have tried to not use the park brake the last few days while I try to save up some bucks for a new one.
If I had driven further than I did that day, the brake probably would have caught fire. Could lead to big problems if not corrected.

Now I see.. read signature first, then run mouth. I should have known. I'm afraid that I can't help you with that one, but good luck.
