Anybody use it for diagnostics?
If so...how do you connect the OBD port on the truck? I am looking for a hard-wired connection (no bluetooth or wifi) to my laptop, but there are as many "devices" out there as there are opinions.
I'm just looking to see if anyone has used one and what model/version it is.
There is a FORScan thread there that has a lot of info in it. It is long so might take a few days or week to read it. There is also a spreadsheet with changes that work with our trucks, Some of the changes might not work with the 2011-2012 but the majority will.
Still some of the info in the Thread applies to our trucks more so than the engine only. Items such as Bambi mode, or DRL's or the number of lane change blips of the turn signal etc. Check the spreadsheet....there might be some items you desire in it.
Bambi mode is nice for dark nights. I am in the process of mounting an 20 inch light bar. AFAIC, I rather have more light on the road than not enough on dark, rural back roads. You will see all kinds of things easier like deer hence the bambi mode. Even where I live in NJ, when I am coming home very late at night, I prefer a good amount of light on the road.
And is it the diesel or the gasser that lights the road up better?
They light the road the same...
There is one item int he FORScan that is strictly for the diesel and that is the Exhaust Filter Screen. There might be a couple others also but do not remember them off top of my head.
