Well, my 2016 has been pretty good. Just got done changing the oil, getting ready to head down to Gatlinburg for Spring break, and lo and behold I see what appears to be an oil leak somewhere on the front of the engine. Appt made for April 15th. Just hope it doesn't turn into something catastrophic while on the road..... about 2 drips hit the ground, a bit of moistness front and center. hopefully not a main seal. Hard to tell.
Did I read something awhile back about crank case vent getting plugged up on these? I wonder if I was imagining things. Do these 6.7's even have one?
At about 63K on the engine. I don't recall if the engine warranty is 60K or 100K miles. Either way, I do have Premiumcare ESP on it.
Dave, take a look at fuel pressure switch just in front of the fuel filter in the engine bay. We've had three now in recent weeks here with this leaking or even blown out that caused a HUGE mess.
Engine is 5yr/100,000. My vacuum pump was leaking oil post ESP coverage. All four bolts were loose. To avoid what I assume to be a mess of a project to remove and replace the gasket, I just tightened all four (89 in lbs per m-chan68) and that has resolved the issue for 20 months so far. But since you have ESP, may as well have them correct whatever is wrong since that's what it's for.

Wouldn't that be a fuel leak, Monty? what I see is definitely black as coal motor oil....

Are the bolts for the vacuum pump accessible without dismantling the fan/shroud, etc? Maybe I should just leave alone, and let dealer fix correctly. I just don't like the idea of hitting the road on a 1200mi trip with issues. I guess it's not a catastrophic issue, since there isn't literally a puddle of oil on the ground. I'm just OCD about mechanical issues.
I think all I removed was the intake duct and that black object (whatever it does), leaving the small coolant line in place. I remember one lower bolt was a pain to get to though but sadly I can't remember exactly what I did with this brief project. If you don't have time to get it in before the trip, then it's worth checking on the vacuum pump if that's where the oil is originating. If it is the pump for example, just leave the mess of oil after tightening and it should be obvious to the dealer and they can fix it correctly when you return. The bolts were quite loose, I can only assume one or two would have eventually fallen out. Attached is a picture from today. This should be the pump, mine had leaked a lot so it's still a mess.
Thanks for that. I think I'll just leave it alone. If at the dealer appt they decide to put dye in the oil to pinpoint the leak, and then doesn't leak, then nothing will get fixed. It is a bit of a mess on the underside, but it is not leaking very fast. I dont get a drop of oil on the ground every day, and if I do, its may a couple, as the spot is less than a size of a quarter.
Well, the truck is in the shop. No diagnosis yet, but they did give me a 2018 F150 Diesel Platinum to drive for a loaner. 360 miles on it. Pretty sweet ride for a toy truck. It's got the full roof sunroof, 10-speed, all the toys. I can see why its a loaner though, its an ugly brown, with burgundy interior....
F150 a "toy truck" lol. So you made it back from your trip with incident though. That's a good thing. I would LOVE to see a pic of the truck, the colors sound horrendous! But, mine is black with black leather interior. I'm, as some would say, boring.

Just pulled up 2018 Ford colors. Looks to be "Magma Red".

Looking forward to your report of what they find. I discovered mine was missing a quart of oil two weeks ago but it's not the vacuum pump this time, or anything that I can see.
What are your thoughts on the baby diesel? I am certain I would still choose the 5.0L or 3.5L EB over that for an F150.

I own two grey metallic (or magnetic as it's called now) vehicles with grey/black interior... I might have you beat on the "you're boring" area because I've heard that before...LOL. But who cares, they're mine and the color looks great.
