Wondering if anyone is using these in a stock truck on rear axle. (Super cab, LB, fx4, 250) I'm going to use 5100's on front
Like the idea of having extra fluid for cooler running shocks. Seems like a good idea for oversized tires in future as well
I spent a good amount of time looking at shocks and just a few weeks ago finally decided to pull the trigger on these Bilstein 5160's. I've had my '17 F250 6.7L CC SB for a year now and have not made any suspension upgrades until recently, and am super happy I did. Also, my truck is stock height, no leveling kit or anything.
I haven't changed out my front ones yet, still deciding on those, however the 5160's in the rear has been a great purchase. I pretty much only drive on pavement, but even so I immediately noticed that the feel of the truck got slightly better and bumps are far less horrendous than with the OEM pieces of junk.
My only concern before I installed them was that the overall ride would be a little bit stiffer/bumpier on the road, but that has not been my experience at all. In fact I would say again that the truck is starting to feel better.
I also installed a Fox steering stabilizer just a day before the shocks, and boy does it make me wish I had upgraded these parts a long time ago.
I don't have any good pictures yet of them actually installed, but here they are assembled.
What are the part numbers for a stock truck? I looked on Amazon and each one stated for 4 to 6 inch lift. 5160 rear and what in front? 5100 or is there a 5160 front shock as well?
I didn't bother to look into it further, but there doesn't seem to be an available 5100 series shock option for the front of non-lifted trucks, understandably. Because of this I decided to go ahead with the B6 4600's as they will be sufficient for what I need, though I haven't actually received them. Excited to get them and get rid of the last two OEM piles of ****.

After seeing this thread I took a look at these and Im going with these over Fox. I tow a 44ft 5th wheel and plan on leveling my truck and for the money these seem like an amazing option!!
