I have a 2008 F350 6.4 with 75k miles. I haven't had any real issues with the truck over the 12 years I've owed it. But recently I've had some reps come up Such as radiator, transmission lines, and the fuel pump. This weekend i noticed the bed mounting rails were pretty rusted through. Overall the truck is in great shape. A couple years ago, i noticed i had a vibration that shows up mostly at Highway speeds. I still haven't found the source, but i notice it more when im towing my 5th wheel camper. I also dont seem to hear that turbo whine like i used to. Sometimes i feel like i should have more power when i put my foot into the pedal, but i don't see any problems with boost. I also have no codes showing. Do any of you have any thoughts on this? I have also been contemplating the idea of trading the truck in on a newer model. My budget seems to only allow for a used 2015 or 2016. Id love a 2017, but thats out of reach right now. But i do like not having any payment. Not sure where im going with this, but what would you do? What should i look for on my current truck?
Superduty, I am likely out of my league by responding as I am not mechanic! However, that vibration you mentioned while towing....I had my front end ball joints, bearings, track bar, shocks, etc done....helped a bunch. New tires, better but still had a vibration when towing, mostly at highway speeds. It turned out to be a bad U joint on the driveshaft going into the rear end yoke. I guess it is pretty common for U joints to wear and cause this problem and it is more noticeable under load. I have 200k miles on mine and it runs perfect. Maintenance is key.

Dan
Tires were brand new when it started. Had them balanced and road force balanced. Then i replaced the u-joints replaced. Replaced the shocks. I had the front rotors replaced, i assume bearings were replaced at the same time. The search continues....lol
I have in the past with previous superdutys had U joints replaced to get rid of the I'm going bad "U" Joint noise and after replacement both times created a vibration. Both times I had to have the driveshaft balanced as an assembly to get rid of the vibration. The shop by my house will not balance a shaft that dose not have factory type U joints installed and they are not affiliated with any manufacturer.
