So I've heard some Ford owners have problems with vibrations, some at slow speeds, some at high speeds, etc. Well I don't have any of those problems. I've got a 2015 F350 SRW FX4 Super Crew Long Bed as the signature block below says and am quite happy with it. Sure, it bounces a bit with the tires pumped up to 65 lbs, but this is to be expected from a heavy duty truck. It tames down when I put a load in. There are no vibrations at any speed caused from unbalanced tires, driveshafts, etc. Recently I had the track bar ball joint replaced and also replaced the center link, CL tie rod end, and steering dampener due to some wandering at low speeds. I'm told the track bar ball joint is the source of the much loathed "death wobble" when it goes out. Well none of that is happening here.
What I do notice is that occasionally when I hit a bump, I feel what I think is the vibration dampeners "absorbing" the vibration. It feels like shaking a bouncy ball in a can and only lasts for 2 seconds. This "rattle" comes from 2 different locations, one underneath the backseat driver's side floor board, and the other from the bed of the pickup. I'm aware that one dampener is attached to the sputnik, and there's another near the spare tire mount. I find this rattle annoying and I am quite used to the natural feel of a pickup (since I've also owned '80s pickups before).
Here's the questions: Has anyone actually removed the vibration dampeners? Are the vibrations/rattles I'm experiencing coming from these devices? Could they be "broken" (rubber block separated from the internals or something like this)? Am I supposed to hear/feel the rattle coming from these devices?
