I have a 1st generation 534 CI Super Duty engine I want to get rid of. It has less than 500 hours on it and the heads have been reworked. It came out of a ski lift installed in the mid '60's, runs and is solid. Does anyone know where I might be able to sell it?
According to the book, "They are typically governed to 3400 rpm."
I wonder if a normal freshening and a rotating assembly balance job would let them run up close to 6000 rpms (for short periods of time, like in a mud-bogger) with some reasonable assurance it would not explode....?
It's the weight of the rotating mass that is one of the limiting factors. Pistons also have very long skirts so at 6,000 RPM friction and heat would probably burn it up in short order.
Sorry about this, but this engine is a bit newer than what I thought. It was built in '73. I appreciate the feedback and am moving it to another forum.
