Broke Transfer Case Support Strut

I snapped the nut with the top of the support right off... I dug through my LMC catalog .. nothing. Searched the internet... looked for one through junkyards... nothing. I think I might be able to weld it back together??? I was just looking for a replacement. Is it possible anyone carries one??

Please, when asking questions, list ALL the pertinent info, we are not mind readers. 1973/79 F100/250 & 1979 F350: There are FIVE different T/C rods (struts).

Year, series, part time or full time transfer case. If a 1977 F250, what are the last 6 digits of the VIN?

Is this a piece that takes a lot of torque? I don’t have a high HP motor and i don’t wheel it hard or at all. Is this considered a weak link??

I mean a lot of early Highboy's didn't even come with them. So i don't think it takes a lot of torque.

It was a company rock quarry truck & then retired to farm use before I got it....poor old truck was hammered & being used as parts truck from the man I bought it from. I don't know if it had a stabilizer bar when new, but I didn't get one with it.

fordguy2100, I think you might be right about alot of highboys not having them (have you any proof?...I can't find any...)& I have often wondered if maybe it was some type of recall...but nearly every highboy I've been around does not have the stabilizer bar. I have seen more np203 (full time t.c.) equipped highboys with the stabilizer bar than with the np205 part time units. This makes since to me because of the additional weight of the np203 vs. the np205.

when in 2wd the t.c. doesn't sway that much, but once shifted into 4wd & 4-low especially, the t.c. will sway quite a bit under acceleration...& worse with a heavy load. Good t.c. bushings & the stabilizer bar eliminates probably 95% of any movement. Rotten bushings & no stabilizer bar increases the chances of u-joint & or driveshaft failure.
engine torque+gear multiplication= alot of forces being applied to the t.c.!
once upon a time, these trucks were used to get work done & used hard!...only recently, have they become pampered collectables.
Pretty sure when I inquired about my 74 not having one but I had a spare one on a frame, ND chimed in or maybe mikeo0o0o0o said not all Highboy's had one. My 74 doesn't have one and I'm not sure it even has the frame bracket for it.. The spare one I had I let go when I sold the frame. Forgot to take it off. I'm sure I can have something easily made up if I need one.

Hopefully ND will chime back in and set the record straight
