Originally posted by monkei yeah a 460 is very large for a 351 bellhousing and will substantially weigh down the front end causing its nose to sink and carry the majority of the trucks momentum. and the gas cost will kill. but very few things top a 7.5l bronco (a diesel might)
I've had 429/460s in my '82 Bronco since 1986 without problems. They only weigh 200lbs more than the smallblocks. All you need for the swap is a 351M/400 or 460 C6, Econoline 460 oil pan, motor mounts and remote oil filter mount.
Why not just rebuild you 351, there very good motors, with a set of AFR 185 aluminum heads, right cam, and a little tweaking of the fuel inhection you can easily make a reliable, streetable, pump gas 400+ HP. DW

What kind of gas mileage differences could I expect going from a 351W to 460? Wouldn't I also need a new engine computer and all the other electronic stuff? Why a C6 over a big block E4OD? Thanks.
