Factory 8 inch display

I got a good deal on a 2017 f150 factory stereo system, can I easily install this into my 2015 with 4 inch display, I have satalite and 911 assist in the 2015. Has anyone done this swap. Thanks for any feedback.

The swap can be done but the odds of everything working properly is almost zero because the “APIM” is not programmed to your VIN#.
Unless something has changed, the APIM, which is attached to the back of the actual display screen, can only be programmed to another VIN by a Ford dealer and the odds of you finding a dealer to do this for you is basically zero because that’s not the infotainment system that came with your truck.

With that being said, you would have been better off spending your money on an aftermarket head unit that has Apple CarPlay and Android Auto built in.

Depending on what you want to do, these folks can do an upgrade from 4" to 8", but it's going to cost around $1900.

The APIM is easily programmed without a dealer. I have done plenty of them. There is some other components missing that you will need to complete the swap.

Very interesting 🤔
Can the APIM now be programmed via FORScan or some other method because I’d be very interested in learning more on how you did it.

It's very easy to wipe and install new asbuilts on the APIM. I believe livinitup has a good write up on it. You just need access to the motorcraft service content to pull as builts.
