Trailer Plug

To the right side of the drivers knee is a convenience space or "pocket" where you could put a cell phone or whatever, that comes out and the factory brake controller goes there. Plugged into a dummy plug in the back of that piece of molded plastic is the factory wiring loom and connector that connects to the trailer plug at the rear of the truck. The connector and wires , you found with the truck, plugs in there and a aftermarket controller would splice-wire to the connector. HOWEVER- any aftermarket controller comes with an adapter so you don't need that connector you found! You have two options, use an aftermarket controller or install the factory one. The dealer will get you 150-250 to install the factory controller. There are media videos on how to get at the factory connector and what happens next. GO FOR IT! One more thing, think you have to have the trailer tow package to have the connectors, but there are ways around that. AND ANOTHER THING- The factory controller needs to be recognized by the truck computer or it will not work, best to check out the videos as it may be a dealer job depending on how handy you are. An aftermarket controller works independent of the computer so its plug and play.
