Even after replacing all the seal in my 77 I still have a lot of wind noise. Not sure if it's normal or if I have some leaks I can't find. Anyone know of a smoke generator I could use? Something kinda benign. I tried once with a leaf blower and a disco fog machine taped up in the slider but there wan't enough forg.
Bear Tracks,
New door and vent window seals eliminated all my wind noise with the exception of the passenger vent window. After careful inspection, I discovered the division bar was still slightly deformed from someone trying to break into the truck. I tried straightening it to no avail. This past Fall I bought a entire and complete passenger side vent window assembly from Dennis Carpenter. It eliminated the last bit of wind noise. This past Sunday I washed the 77 F-150 and no leaks around the bottom of the vent window seal. But I noticed the vent window rubber is already showing premature signs of oxidation, becoming brittle and the actual vent window glass is thinner than the OEM glass. This morning I sourced a good and straight OEM passenger side vent window assembly and now need to schedule swapping it out.
A very quick and easy way that I use in my body shop is closing the door (or trunk lid) on the molding with a piece of paper in between the door & molding. Slide & drag the paper around the closed door feeling the "drag" or resistance. All of a sudden, oops, there it is; the paper slips right along for an inch or 2 or a lot more (a foot or so!) with little to no resistance, hence an air gap.A newspapers single sheet is usually to skimpy/fragile but a notebook ,lined paper works very well. You can usually track down the trouble spots this way. gary
I have used a smoke stick (like a punk for fireworks) while going aroun the doors with the leaf blower running but I think my leak might be under the dash. Don't hear that well in my right ear so it's hard to tell from the drivers side if any leaks on passenger door. I'l do anythink to keep from asking the wife to help!
VTPKRAT2,
My neighbor who used to be a body man uses a dollar bill as you descried, checking for air leaks around the door seal.
Yup,it usually pins it down. Then it's a matter of tightening a bit in that particular spot. Either front hinges, door latch, physically bending the top window opening in...... whatever it takes! Remember; it's just metal !! gary
Thanks, Mike. Simple and effective. Perhaps not as sexy as some of the PhD dissertations I see posted.
"PhD dissertations" ????
I would assume some people are looking for simple suggestions all the way up to professional suggestions. They can then decide what might or might not work for their particular problem. A lot of folks will answer with a "Thanks for the replys" for the people that are taking their time to help. gary

Awww heck.....
All you needed was a few "therefores and wherefores", added some brand names for the blower brands that are most effective, add a few personal experiences and you would have had a full fledged dissertation.
Come on man.... get with the program!!
I fixed my wind noise by hooking up the radio, cured the smells, noise and anything else that was a pita by buying a Mustang to use as a daily driver and now my truck is back to being a work truck which is what its supposed to be.
