Nope, go try it. Just give it a bump and let it go anything past that is for your own personal amusement. Ford put a heavy spring in the ignition to give the sensation that you are cranking the engine but in reality once you get past ACC it triggers the self start.

Was it standard equipment an all 150's or an option?
Thanks in advance
Lariat and above my friend and that’s still the case right now.

Thanks for the info, may give it a try just for s&g.
With over 15 trucks, tractors and other pieces of equipment here on the farm that are key hold to start I'll just do this F-150 the same way weather it needs it or not.
Don't want to find myself doing multiple starter bumps on the others because they don't start like the F-150.

On another note has anyone with push button start ever tried shutting their engine off while the trans was still in gear?
Reason I ask is we worked a accident a while back where a new Dodge Charger ran off the road over a rocky embankment and into a woods, car was severely damaged and the floor shifter was jammed in Drive with the engine running.
This car had push button start and no matter what we tried the engine would not turn off with the trans in gear, we finally got the hood open and jerked relays and fuses out until the engine died.
That situation turned me against push button start real fast.

I dont have it in my XLT but could take it or leave it, seems crazy they dont have it in lower trims when a base model kia/nissan has it it lol. I do like to lock my key in the truck when kayaking/biking and use the keypad, not sure you can do that with pushbutton as it will still open the door if it sees the key, maybe in a faraday cage or something?

And, if you lock your fob in, it will start of someone breaks in and tries the start button. They don’t even bother looking for the fob. It happens all the time here and is now the most common way trucks are stolen.

Not to mention the the 2015 and up trucks are ridiculously easy to break into.

I'm glad not all F150s have push button start. I like my switchblade key and I can't stand the push button start in the old lady's Escape. One thing I hate about it is the double honk if I start the vehicle then get out to get something.
