Push button start

Looking over the information and pictures of the 2017 Super Duty, I noticed that some pictures show a push button start. Is this a standard feature on the higher end trucks, or is it an option I am not seeing with a package? (ie. remote start?)

Right, since you can't get the Lariat Ultimate, KR, or Plat in a reg or SC.

After 1800 miles I like the push button start by the way. Call me old fashioned but I have been turning a key since 1978 and thought the push button start would bug me but I got over it quickly.

Plus when you push the start button a Ford explosion video displays on the instrument cluster screen! BOOM!

How many of you with the push button use remote start more than the button?

Me, for sure. That was one of my early complaints back in last October. Having to push the brake, and continue pushing it for a couple of seconds after pressing the Start button...while waiting for the glow plugs to run. Its annoying.

The owner's manual in all the trucks says to 'always' wait for the glow plug light to go out before cranking. Trucks with an ignition key can override and crank immediately, and are rewarded with an instant start. Trucks with the button are rewarded with a mandatory wait.

So, I'd say I use the remote start 90% of the time. I like the proximity key, just grab the handle and it unlocks. I guess in order to complete the package, they need the push button.

My '15 was key start so I never had to wait. This is good to know, I do not miss the days of waiting 10 seconds for the glow plugs in my 6.0.

Its about 50/50 for me. I love the Push Button start. I use my auto start more during colder weather.,

I also don't mind the 2-3 second wait, I thought it might be longer, but I hit the button, then put my seatbelt on and hit my garage door opener.

You still have to wait with the remote...but it doesn't matter since you haven't even gotten in the truck yet.

Glow Plug wait times seem very minimal, even in very cold temperatures. In fact, it seems like it is about 2 seconds in summer and winter, kind of odd.

I only use the remote start when it's cold or hot outside. I'm looking forward to using the global window up/down in the summer too. I'll remote start and roll down the windows 30 seconds before I get to the truck and by that time the AC will start working and will have blown out most of the hot air. In the winter, I like to have the truck run for a minute or three before I get in.

I use the button more. Since you have to push the button whether you remote start or not, it takes lots of extra remote starts to use remote start more. But yeah, I usually remote start in the morning and start with the push button after that.

And a side note for Troverman...I haven't started my truck in temps above 10 degrees yet. Most mornings it's been below 0. I have push button started my truck from cold soaked all night at least 3 or 4 times and it instantly fires off each time. There is no wait like you described in another thread. I do have it plugged it, so I'm not sure if that makes a difference.

Very interesting. I should make a video of my starts. Heck, when I got it in early October and the truck sat overnight with temps getting down to 30 or so, it would wait the 2 seconds with the button.

Epic, have you tried the windows down after a remote start? Not sure that would work. Of course, its only the front windows that go down.

I haven't done that one yet. I've only done the double honk, TPMS reset and Fog lights with high beams tweaks. I'll do the Global Windows and Secure Idle next time I hook up. Both have multiple confirmations so I'm sure they will work. Might have to roll down the windows first or something but I expect I can get it to work like I want.
