I've used both in my truck. I noticed a difference of a couple mpg on my usual drive in to work over the entire tank. I'm running 93 now and have been for a while.

I have been using E85 since the beginning of May and the difference between price and mpg loss hasn't been all that bad.

Considering most of my driving is around town, my best track time was 13.5 @ 102 with OZ Omega tune, Borla ATAK, PMAS CAI.

Premium gives you 10HP/10 lb ft of torque extra over 87 according to Ford

Having said that I run premium when I am towing and when it's really hot like right now! Otherwise I run 87 to save money. When I go to Colorado I will never run their 85 octane. I only use 87 or better

E85 is rated around 108 octane and E15 is around 88 octane.

Is the ecoboost approved for either of those?

Sure looks like it...but check your owners manual to be sure.

My only problem is my station is 35 miles away, so I fill an extra 25 gallon cans to go.

2017 Ford F150 Pickup 4WD FFV

The cost is 2.599 for E85 and 3.199 for Shell V93.

There's a station not far from home that I just noticed a large banner claiming they have ethanol free gas. I just filled up with Chevron 93 and I'm thinking the next time I need to fill up I'm going to try the ethanol free gas. I remember being in Sturgis for the 2007 rally and found some 95 oct ethanol free and the King ran like a champ on that stuff. Too bad I didn't have the cams and dyno at the time.....

Ecoboost has to be E20 or below.

I just filled with a tank of Top Tier Valero 89 octane and so far the average after 3 days is 19.5 mpg.

The tank before was bargain brand 87, my mpg lowered to 17.0 with that tank.

Best 2 tanks I ever got in my 3.5 eco was on Valero! I haven't had a chance to get any in my 5.0 yet. I wish they would put a station in Abilene TX.

All gas is basically the same, only the additives change (well, and octanes). Chances are something else changed in your driving that caused the increase in MPGs.

Top Tier has to conform to a standard to get the rating. Then each brand has a specific additive pack. Those things can account for minor differences in economy and especially cleanliness.

But yeah, all wholesale rack gasoline is essentially the same, with some differences based on regional EPA mandated blends and minor differences based on the refinery itself.
